Massachusetts 2017 Low Number Plate Lottery Applications Now Being Accepted
The Baker-Polito Administration’s Registry of Motor Vehicles announced today that applications for the 2017 Low Number Plate Lottery are now being accepted online or by U.S. mail.
Again this year, customers will be able to enter the RMV Low Number Plate Lottery online by visiting: https://secure.rmv.state.ma.us/myPlateLotto/. Mail-in applications are available for download at www.MassRMV.com, or at Registry service center locations across the Commonwealth.
Applications must be received online or postmarked by August 25, 2017, in order for the applicant to be eligible.
“The low plate lottery is our customers’ favorite annual event at the Registry,” said Registrar Erin Deveney. “After such an overwhelmingly positive response last year and an increase in applications, we are happy to continue to offer our customers a streamlined online application process for submissions. Our low plate lottery is just one example of improved and expanded online Registry options for our customers. We encourage all entrants to continue to skip the stamp and enter the lottery electronically at MassRMV.com.”
This year, there are 162 plates that are part of the low plate lottery. In 2016, the Registry received approximately 8,600 applications, for 183 plates, an increase of 2,600 applications from the prior year.
Available low plate numbers for this year’s lottery include 4455, 8888, 33E, 8J, M88, and X1.
Applicants for the low number lottery should note that there is no fee to apply. However, should the applicant be selected as a winner, there is a registration fee that will be required.
Low number plates must be renewed every two years.Customers are encouraged to visit the RMV’s website or follow @MassRMV on Twitter for upcoming details on the drawing, date, time and location of the event. By law, all winners must be announced by September 15, 2017, and the names of winners will be posted to the Registry website.
